We have been busy learning all about the moon. Of course no moon study would be complete without learning about the phases of the moon. We started out with a read aloud of
The Moon Book by Gail Gibbons :
Here's another great book:
They used their science book to help them create their model.
They are not required to learn all the different phases of the moon, so I just had them create the main four phases.
I then created an anchor chart...
My students created their own phases of the moon picture. They were given a 12x18 piece of black construction paper, a 6x9 piece of yellow construction paper for the sun, 1 large circle for the Earth, 4 small circles for the different phases of the moon, and moon phases strips.
They did a great job creating their moon phases poster.
They had a grand time making their interpretation of the phases of the moon!!
I hope you had a Marvelous Monday!
Hi Crystal,
ReplyDeleteMy students love learning about anything having to do with space. I love Gail Gibbons books, but I haven't come across this one. I'll have to check it out. Great ideas!
